110 Queen Street is a brand new building in the heart of Glasgow’s business district, with a striking contemporary façade and eight floors of office space, overlooking one of Scotland’s most iconic images, the equestrian Wellington Statue with its traffic cone hat. Fully let prior to completion, it accommodates prestigious clients including ACCA, Grant Thornton, Brodies LLP and WSP.
Managed by Jones Lang La Salle, our client, worked with architect, Holms Miller on the project, who included a large atrium space in the design with interior planting incorporated in the drawings to create a welcome space in the foyer and soften the area. With an abundance of natural daylight the preference was to install open stemmed variety of tree which would be permitted to grow within the area in a natural shape rather than being overly manicured.
Being truly one of the most sought after business addresses in the city, it was crucial for GP Plantscape to provide the perfect solution. Quality was key as was ensuring that we delivered to our customers’ expectations and beyond. Involving our client right from the initial stages when choosing the planting material, ensured that we could fully understand their requirements and help them to realise their vision.
To ensure complete satisfaction with the solution, as part of the process we took a trip to Holland with our client to choose the specimen trees which were to be installed and select containers for the vast array available. A modern and contemporary building the planter needed to be fresh and clean and of high quality to reflect the prestigious location and image of the blue chip companies occupying the office space.
We anticipated that the Pure Pot would be ideal as a solution and the client was delighted with the exploratory trip making decisions with surety and paving the way for a smooth installation under tight time scales.
Eileen Buchanan, Facilities Manager, JLL comments,
“I knew that GP Plantscape were well known for the quality of their work and we were delighted to be working with them. The landscaping team were excellent – very professional, tidy and well-experienced. They also gave me advice on the maintenance of our trees. I now have the most beautiful and unique feature that not only adds to the high profile of the building but is also a constant delight, has been much admired, and was worth every penny! I would have no hesitation in recommending GP Plantscape for their professionalism and quality work.”
In addition to the atrium planting GP Plantscape installed floor standing Pure Pots in the lounge area planted with artificial onion grasses and ficus benjamina due to the low light levels in this area. Finally a coordinating pure pot desk bowl with a flowering colour change was installed on the reception desk.
