As hospitality reopens, GP Plantscape has been working with our home-town’s business improvement body to create an external seating area on the high street for customers to enjoy their takeaway.
Discover Lanark asked us to build and set up the alfresco dining stop, in a bid to encourage townspeople and visitors to purchase a beverage and a bite to eat from local businesses, by providing a spot to enjoy their food and drink while indoor seating is limited.
Antonia Pompa, Discover Lanark Manager said, “It is important for us to work with local companies wherever possible and we are very fortunate to have GP Plantscape on our doorstep. This project has not been easy to deliver, and they have shown a readiness to be both flexible and creative in designing and delivering the project ensuring that we get the best possible outcome.”
Drew and David, from our installations team, built and erected the fence to the council stipulated height with regulation handrail to create an enclosed area allowing patrons to relax without pedestrians walking amongst them.
Due to the existing social distancing measures, tables are required to be spaced two meters apart and to bring an added sense of security we have placed five silverbirch trees (Betula pendual) in grey, Cirkik containers between the picnic benches.
The trees give the area a lovely garden feel, and this theme is continued with the addition of a bark border around the perimeter of the enclosure, complete with ten troughs planted with lavender and geraniums.
Antonia Pompa added: “We will be working with GP Plantscape on a further two exciting and unusual projects later this year. It is their ability to turn our vision into a really special end product that makes them such an excellent company to work with.”
The seating area is open from 30 April until 19 June.
