Keeping the wall alive

A vibrant display of vertical greenery will wow your visitors and staff, whilst bringing all the benefits that come with indoor plants.

Green walls can be created in all shapes and sizes and a wide variety of plant material can be incorporated to create striking backdrops and give each display its own individual personality.

With such dramatic effect, it’s not surprising to see living walls popping up in reception areas, offices, hotels and restaurants and a whole host of indoor settings.

It’s the live plant material within the design that lends uniqueness to the display and that same living material requires expert care to upkeep its fresh radiant appearance.

So, you’ll want to protect your investment.

For over 25 years, our horticultural experts have been caring for indoor plant displays.

In our video, we captured some of the work involved in the preservation of a green wall, when Davy and Drew from our installations and nursery team carried out a maintenance visit on a green wall at The Glenmorangie Company’s facility in Livingston.

The featured green wall is a modular system called LivePanel.

Whilst this particular wall accommodates almost 500 plants, the system can be constructed to build walls of any size.

Installed with a built-in irrigation system, on a timer, to provide a constant water and nutrient feed, maintenance visits can be as infrequent as two or three times a year. However this is largely dependent on the surrounding environment and the plant material installed. Some walls will need a little more TLC to keep them thriving.

If you are considering installing a green wall or need some advice on the most suitable plant material and the appropriate maintenance regime, please get in touch on 0808 100 3120 or e-mail enquiries@gpplantscape.com.

“Incorporating biophilia in a recent hybrid pilot workspace for a client in Glasgow was such an important part of the jigsaw. The project included large trees, standing planters in various designs, shelf planters and two bespoke moss walls. The exterior courtyard also underwent a transformation including power washing the paving, sanding and painting of the exterior furniture, new gravel, a new Astro turf putting green and various planters with lovely biophilia displays. The feedback has been fantastic and people have been raving about it from a senior level. A big thanks to all the team at GP who were a great support and pulled out all the stops to ensure completion on time.”
