Seeing red – a jab of colour for big impact

Adding a splash of red creates vibrant and expressive displays.

Find out how a spot of scarlet can turn heads.

We’ve been livening up our customers sites with bold monthly flowering bowls inside and an increasingly popular ornamental shrub and tree outside.

Blooming opulence

Radiant in red, striking desk bowls are beautifying reception desks and board room tables throughout the country this month. Featuring five resplendent plants in various crimson shades, this has got to be one of our most luxurious monthly displays.

Dazzling amongst the greenery you’ll find: Guzmania ‘Hope’, Tillandsia ‘Anita’, Kalanchoe red, Anthurium Utah and Aechmea Inca.

Practical luxury in a bowl, it’s the perfect alternative to cut flowers, costing less and providing a more sustainable solution. Plants and foliage from these displays can be reused where viable.

Photinia x fraseri ‘Red Robin’

This delightful oriental evergreen shrub looks amazing in spring with is lush red leaves and white flowers. At this time of year, the leaves are mostly a vivid, shiny green giving off an opulent lustre. But hanging on to the remnants of cherry coloured foliage into the summer.

You can bring the vibrancy of the photinia to your exterior by dotting shrubs in planter beds or exterior planters, placing a feature tree at an entrance way or creating a magnificent photinia hedge.

To thrive, it likes sunlight and will cope with partial shade, but it won’t survive well in a dark spot or where the soil is of poor quality.

Also, it’s not great to plant the photinia in a heat wave so best to plan ahead and look to the late summer or autumn to give your exterior landscaping a bit of a colour boost.

What are you waiting for? Spice up your landscaping today with a monthly colour bowl or some stand out, ‘look at me’ shrubs.

“Incorporating biophilia in a recent hybrid pilot workspace for a client in Glasgow was such an important part of the jigsaw. The project included large trees, standing planters in various designs, shelf planters and two bespoke moss walls. The exterior courtyard also underwent a transformation including power washing the paving, sanding and painting of the exterior furniture, new gravel, a new Astro turf putting green and various planters with lovely biophilia displays. The feedback has been fantastic and people have been raving about it from a senior level. A big thanks to all the team at GP who were a great support and pulled out all the stops to ensure completion on time.”
